They tend to shy away from saying whether any small business grants money is available, but if you dig deep enough you'll see that there are various grants to be claimed. To see if your business startup might qualify, I've found you the links you need.

When To Register For GST

One of the hard decisions that all businesses will have to make not long after starting up is when and if to register for GST.

The Goods and Services Tax (GST) is a broad-based tax of 10 per cent on the sale of many goods and services and most other things in Australia.

The threshold that qualifies your business to register for GST is when;

Your business has an annual turnover reaching $75 000 or more ($150 000 or more for non profit organisations)

You provide taxi travel as part of your business, regardless of your annual turnover.

To register for GST you will need to apply. The application to register for an Australian Business Number (ABN) is the same form, and you will need an ABN to be active in the GST system.

Your ABN will also be your GST registration number.

How to register

You can register online here when you have an ATO digital tax certificate.

Fill in the new business account, that is available for download, or, you can file through your tax agent.
